Day 90

Ok, so my head still feels like Mike Tyson had a sparring session at my expense. The rest of my body feels better and my spirit is super high today. This is because the numbers in my title say it all.

Lock combination? Julian date? Historical reference? Nope, none of the above.

What they are, is the exact section, row and seat at Chase Field I will be sitting in for opening day baseball and the first game of the season for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks.

I’m sure some people would find reason to complain about nose bleed seats or how it’s not enjoyable. Not this guy though. I couldn’t be happier. Sit me next to a trash can in the outfield I could care less! It’s baseball.Sitting behind homeplate in the upper deck is, for me, the best seat in the house.

Two words- opening day! Everybody is 0-0 and by the end of the day someone is a winner and there is a loser. Go team go and can one win turn into two and three and into a season with playoffs and the World Series?!

Yes, I will be in the heart of the enemy in Arizona and unfriendly confines but this makes me all the happier to root for the Rockies. I will be back in Colorado to take in the home opener for  the Rockies that Friday, but the first game of the year can never be duplicated and I get a little happier every day it grows closer.

So, today as I pull myself off the couch and hope to feel better by the weekend, I keep thinking about 316-28-30 and smile. Patience.

Glad you are feeling better. My first thought when I saw your seats was: “Right behind home plate, good choice.” So I’m with you. Anywhere right behind home is awesome and frankly my family can’t afford to get tickets down in the field boxes to most games so you learn to make due. Some of the best times are in the nosebleeds because mostly up there people really love baseball. They aren’t just there because their work had good seats and they got to go; they’re there because it’s baseball and it’s opening day! Awesome! Have fun!

Jen- I agree anywhere is great on opening day and thank you for the well wishes. Slowly getting better : )
Melissa- I have had some great conversations with people in upper decks so I look forward to meeting some cool people.

I would love to be in any seats Opening Day! But I’ll have to settle for watching on TV. Seats in the upper deck behind home plate can be great – you have an ideal view of the whole field, and can watch the play unfolding. Enjoy! And glad to hear you’re feeling a bit better!

Opening Day can’t come soon enough. Spring has dragged on and on this year. I wish I could go to the Yanks home opener (only because they’re playing the Tribe); unfortunately it would take three paychecks for me to afford even a nosebleed seat to that game. The only time I ever went to Chase was a few years ago when then-unknown Carlos Zambrano came an out away from a no-hitter before losing it to an infield chopper.

You might be up there high, but you are right behind the plate.
Nothing wrong with those seats at all.
Hey, anytime you can go to an Opening Day is a good day, or any game for that matter.
Could have been worse, you could have been in Section 332 all the way at the top of the section.
